A raven grips a bare branch dead centre, body facing left, head turned so the beak reads in full profile. The feathers are laid in overlapping black plates with a faint brown sheen along the folded wing, and the long claws wrap right around the wood. It is the only still thing on the panel.

Behind it a huge amber moon fills the upper half, pitted and blotched. Small black bats scatter across the sky in twos and threes, orange maple leaves fall in from both edges, and one spider drops on a thread. Bottom left a jack-o'-lantern sits with a wide lit grin, its light spilling onto the branch. The ground is mottled grey and gold stone, all of it printed to look like carved relief rather than pressed metal.

This is the one for a covered porch through October, or a mantel with candles either side. It reads properly like Halloween without going cartoon, so it also works on a hall wall in late autumn. A good gift for someone who feeds the crows in their yard.
