This one runs cold: deep purple and blue mosaic all the way round, with the only warmth coming from the flask in her hands. She stands in profile at a wooden apothecary counter, tall violet hat folded over, dark hair down her back, tipping something into a vessel that glows orange from within. A barn owl watches from the right-hand window and a moth crosses the panes behind her. The counter is loaded with green and blue bottles, clay jugs, a glass of red, berries and a scattering of dried roots.
The stone arch and the mosaic seams are printed to look like carved relief - shadow painted in, nothing actually raised off the surface.
Suits a room you keep dim: a stairwell, a reading corner, a wall above the altar where candles are already burning. The violets read well against dark paint. A fair gift for someone who brews something on the stove every October. Take the larger size if it is going above a doorway.
Material: aluminium sign, fade-resistant for indoor or covered outdoor use
Sizes: 8x8 inches and 12x12 inches
Care: wipe clean with a dry cloth
Note: the raised, carved look is printed onto a flat panel
