An owl sits hunched with its shoulders up, eyes burning orange, feathers layered in rust, teal and deep blue. A navy witch hat with a square buckle sits low over its brow. Both feet grip the top of a jack-o'-lantern that grins up from the bottom edge, glowing from the inside, with a second small pumpkin behind it. The beak is small and dark against a mottled facial disc, and both eyes sit in hard black rings.
A butter-yellow full moon fills the sky, and maple leaves in scarlet and orange blow across a dark red ground. The moon takes up half the circle on its own. The drawn, illustrated look is printed onto a flat aluminium circle rather than cut or layered.
Built for October: a covered porch, a mantel already crowded with gourds, or a classroom door. It is playful rather than frightening, so it works for a house with small children in it as well as an adult party wall.
Material: aluminium sign, fade-resistant for indoor or covered outdoor use
Sizes: 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) and 12×12 inch
Care: wipe clean with a dry cloth
Note: the raised, carved look is printed onto a flat panel
