Clockwork behind the wingspan.
A single butterfly is laid out across the middle of a dark green-black panel, wings open to the full width. The wings are drawn as bronze wireframe: long ribs radiating from the body, thin gold veins between them, small round nubs and beads along every edge. The body is a stack of segmented rings ending in a fine gold tip, with two curled antennae.
Behind it sit brass cogs of several sizes, some whole, some half hidden by the wings, plus rivets and small levers scattered over weathered dark boards. The border is a riveted bronze frame with round bosses at the corners and a raised pin at the top and bottom centre. It looks like machined metal fixed to a case, but every part of it is printing on a smooth sheet.
It hangs well above a workbench, in a hallway, or over a sideboard, and it reads steampunk rather than seasonal. A good gift for a watch tinkerer, a moth collector, or someone whose home leans industrial.
