She stands in profile with her eyes closed and her chin slightly down, the point of her hat bending away where the brim meets a spray of copper leaves tucked into the band. Her hair falls in long carved waves to her waist and her top is dark, off the shoulder, edged with a worked lace pattern.

The ground behind her is rust orange, scratched and pitted like an old wall, with maple leaves scattered across it in the same copper. A bat crosses the upper right. Bare branches come in from both sides and knot together along the bottom, and one thin twig passes in front of her raised hand. Everything is one metal tone, bronze on rust, with the depth printed in as shadow. The panel underneath is flat and smooth.
