A brown eagle owl sits centred with both ear tufts raised and a hard orange stare, chest feathers streaked cream and umber. The ground behind it is near-black. Orange and coral blooms fill the lower third among dark leaves and small blue berries, a few more spill down the right-hand side, and the whole scene sits inside a carved wooden frame with vines twisting through it. The frame is cut with leaf shapes at the top corners and knotwork at the base.
