The trunk of the tree is a man and a woman standing face to face with their arms around each other, cut as black silhouettes against a burst of white light. Out of them the branches spread into a full canopy of green leaves, the boughs shading through orange, pink and yellow as they climb.
The roots come down in the same colors and knot together under the pair. A rainbow Celtic braid runs the whole way round the rim, and the ground behind is close to black, which is why every color on it reads hot.
Hang it in a window with the sun behind and the leaves go translucent while the two figures stay solid. It is an obvious choice for an anniversary or a handfasting present, and it also does well in a hallway where you want one strong piece of color rather than a wall of frames. It carries Beltane well, and stays right for the rest of the year.
