A raven perches on a bare branch, body in profile, head turned back over the shoulder and beak slightly open. Every wing feather is drawn separately and the long tail runs down to the lower rim. The bird is pewter grey throughout. Around it climbs an ornate border of vines, small blossoms and berries, and a spray of maple leaves crosses the lower half in dull copper — the only warm colour anywhere on the piece.

The carved appearance is printed onto the flat panel, with the shadows painted in behind each leaf and feather. Nothing actually stands proud of the surface.

This is the raven for a room that is already dark — a stairwell, a study, a wall of black frames. The near-monochrome keeps it from reading as seasonal, so it stays up long after Samhain. A good gift for someone who works with corvids, or simply likes them. Pair it with the other raven discs if you want a row of them down a corridor.
