A snowy owl sits at the centre in stacked white layers: the crown flecked with gold, the facial disc split by one hard shadow, every chest feather a separate cut edge. Only the eyes break the palette, two amber discs set under a heavy brow. Behind him the sky drops to charcoal blue and fills with small gold stars.

The rest of the scene is white on white. Bare branches reach in from both sides, snow banks up around low shrubs at the base, and two conifers glow gold as though lit from behind.
