A large crescent takes the upper half, silver through the belly and edged with copper acanthus curls that spill off both horns. The panel behind it is dark navy with a wood grain running through it, sown with copper stars of several sizes and a few small crescents. An arched border frames the top; a heavy baroque flourish with a sun face at its centre closes the bottom. Two slim columns run down the left and right edges and carry the arch.

It is dark and warm rather than bright, and the carved, gilded look is printed onto a flat panel — no gilding to chip off, no relief to collect dust.
