Purple stone, gold light.
The ground is a mottled slab of violet and gray, cracked like something lifted from a temple floor. Over it lies a gold sun with long wavy rays, its center a smooth purple stone shot through with fine splits. A gold crescent moon overlaps from the right, horns tipped with small rosettes. Faceted amethyst-colored stones sit at the four compass points and along the rays, and the border is a heavy gold vine that thickens into ornaments top and bottom. The purple runs cool rather than lilac, closer to amethyst than to plum.
It reads as cast brass over stone. What arrives is a flat aluminium round printed with that relief, gems included.
Purple and gold suits an altar wall, a bedroom, or any spot with a warm bulb near enough to catch the gold. A fitting Yule or Litha gift for someone who keeps both the solar and the lunar half of the year. Set brass candle holders under it and it stops looking like a print.
