A black cat's head fills most of the panel, turned three-quarters to the left. One eye burns amber; the other is lost in shadow. Long white whiskers sweep out across the lower half, and a thin rim of light runs along the jaw and the top of the ear. Beyond that there is very little to hold on to, which is the whole idea.

The rest is black on black. A damask border of scrolls and curls frames the panel, visible only where the sheen shifts, and behind the cat's ears a faint pale moon sits in the upper left with two small bats crossing it. This is the darkest sign in the range by a wide margin, and it needs a lit wall to read properly.

Hang it in a room with lamps rather than a dim corner, or as one panel in a gallery wall of black frames. It never announces Halloween, so it stays up all year without looking out of season. A good gift for someone whose whole flat is black, grey, and one cat.
