A long-haired black cat sits dead centre with both green eyes wide open, whiskers picked out in white against an enormous amber moon. Purple maple leaves drift past her shoulder, a violet butterfly rests on her chest fur, and a small spider hangs on its thread near her paw.

Spiderwebs are strung into the corners and along the right edge, a bare branch crosses the sky above her, and two carved pumpkins glow at the foot of the quilt. The sky runs lilac into gold. The pillowcases take a different scene: the same cat curled on a branch with candles lit below.

The purple leans more autumn than horror, so it reads well from late September through the end of the harvest without turning the room into a haunted house. Good for a cat person who keeps a jack-o'-lantern on the porch into November.
