The left side of the disc is a crescent carved as a woman's face in profile: closed eyes, straight nose, hair sweeping back into coils of blue and cream, with round medallions and turquoise stones set along its edge. The right side is an owl, perched and looking sideways at her.
Its plumage runs violet, magenta and blue, feathers layered down the breast and out along a long tail, with a jeweled crest above the eyes. Between the two the sky is deep navy, scattered with white stars and one larger burst. A bronze band of small carved panels runs around the rim. All of it is printed onto a flat circle.
Put it where the color has room to work: a bedroom wall, a landing, above a bookcase. The purple and gold suit a room that already has velvet or dark paint in it. A good present for someone drawn to owls as messengers rather than as farmhouse decoration. It holds its own next to bold wallpaper.
