Legs run past the frame.

A tarantula sits dead center of a horizontal panel, and it does not fit. Two of its front legs cross over the bronze border toward the edges, and the back pair push down past the bottom rail. Each leg is banded copper at the joints and bristled along its length, and the abdomen is a dense mound of dark hair combed outward.

The head end is smooth by comparison, a pair of small red eyes set close together, short palps folded in front. Behind it the ground is black and cracked, strung with fine web lines and dotted with copper beads that catch light like dew. The frame is a heavy bronze rail with corner brackets and screw heads printed at each fixing point. That whole raised, carved effect is a print on a flat sheet.
