A small jack-o'-lantern wearing a black witch hat sits on top of a much bigger one, tiny hands gripping the rim below. The hat is crumpled at the tip with a gold buckle on the band, and a ragged black collar sits under the little pumpkin's chin. Both faces are carved with the same triangular eyes and jagged mouth, and both are lit from inside.
The background is aged parchment, cracked and stained, with cobwebs strung across the top right and bare branch shadows behind. Orange maple leaves lie along the bottom edge. The border is dark and twisted with scrollwork corners and screw heads at each end. It looks like a poster left in a barn for fifty years, which is exactly what the printing is doing; the panel underneath is smooth and new.
Cheerful rather than frightening, so it works on a child's door, in a porch or in a shop window through October. An easy gift for someone who carves pumpkins on the first of the month and keeps them going with candles.
