A raven sits three-quarters on, wings folded tight, beak closed, one long talon hooked over a black branch that runs out of the frame. Every feather is separated: fine short ones over the skull and breast, long overlapping plates down the back, and a tail that drops past the branch to the bottom edge.

The plate behind him glows rusty orange and tan, worn through to grey in patches, with a darker arch rising behind the bird like a doorway. The border is built from black metal twigs, dry brown leaves and small red berries, with a curl of scrollwork at each corner. Bird, twigs and rust are all printed flat, so the panel stays smooth and light on the hook.
