A raven takes up the middle of the panel, side on, head turned so one red eye catches you. The feathers are drawn in hard black plates with blue-white edges, and small red flecks sit scattered through the breast like sparks. It stands on a cracked human skull resting in a nest of bare grey roots, both eye sockets lit red from inside.

Behind them the sky burns dull red at the top and fades to grey smoke lower down, crossed by leafless branches. Half a dozen more crows fly through the gap, some close, some far off. Dark leaves and small red berries crowd the base of the skull, and red paint runs off the bottom edge in thin streaks. The look is closer to a horror poster than a cast plaque.

It hangs well on exposed brick, in a garage bar, or beside a Samhain altar through October. Anyone who likes horror art and corvids at the same time will take it, and it is an easy gift for a tattoo artist or a metal fan.
