You have to look twice.

One bat, wings open the full width of the panel, printed black on black. Nothing separates it from the ground except shading. The wing membranes are ribbed, each finger bone catching a thin line of light, and the trailing edges are scalloped. In the centre the small pointed face turns straight out, ears up, two pale eyes and a hint of teeth, the feet tucked under.

The background is a rough textured black, closer to badly plastered wall than to sky. There is no other colour anywhere on the panel. The shape is a plain rectangle with rounded corners, a rolled edge, and a punched hole at each corner. Held under a lamp the wings come forward and the texture appears; seen from across a lit room it reads almost as a shadow cast on the wall.

Put it over a doorway, on a mantel, or on a covered porch through October. It also earns its place year-round in a room already committed to black. A good gift for someone whose taste runs to one colour and no clutter.

Returns & guarantee

If it is not what we showed you. Damaged, the wrong item, or materially different from the photographs — tell us within 30 days of delivery. One email and one clear photo is enough to start. You choose a refund or a replacement, and in many cases we settle it from the photo and you keep the item.

If it never arrives. If your parcel has not reached you 60 days after it shipped, we refund your order in full.
