A glossy black crow stands in profile on a mossy stump, long tail dropping down the left side, grey beak catching the light. Around him is an old botanical study: apricot poppies open at his feet, a blue-purple iris to the right, ivy and curling tendrils, all against a cream sky gone faintly brown with age. The bird is painted sharp while the plants stay soft, so he lifts clean out of the background. Printed flat onto the panel, in a smooth matte black frame with a rounded profile.
