Her gown is deep blue-green with silver filigree running through the skirt and a long train pooling behind her. The hat is enormous, brim curving down over her eyes, tip bent forward. Her hair falls in dark curls to her waist.

A raven sits on a branch at the upper left, a small lantern hangs at the upper right, and at her feet there are lit candles, a mortar and pestle and a scatter of yellow flowers, the only warm colour on the whole panel. A thick silver frame of twisting vines wraps all four sides. The relief in that frame and the glow off the book are printed flat.

The teal keeps it out of straight Halloween territory, so it can live in a study, a craft corner or beside a bookshelf all year. Good for a reader, a herbalist, or anyone who works late by lamplight.
