Round eyes worked in brass.

An owl faces front in solid brass tones against a matte black ground. The eyes are large and round with dark pupils, the brow ridges sweep up into points, and the breast is laid in overlapping scalloped feathers that run down into a fanned tail. Around it, gold acanthus curls, small roses and stray flowers arc out symmetrically to the edges of the panel. A pair of small roses sits at the very top, dead centre above the head.

There are two colours here and no more: black and burnished gold. The whole relief is printed onto a flat sheet, so the deep undercuts you see between the feathers are shadow, not depth.

It reads as a brass lobby panel more than a witchy sign, which makes it easy to hang in a shared room. Good over a desk or a drinks cabinet, and a safe gift for someone who wants the owl without the moon and the pentacle. Black and brass suits a dark wall.
