Green, and knotted through.

A Celtic cross sits square in the middle of the disc, its arms cream and crazed like old glaze, with a single unbroken cord of knotwork looping through the head and down the shaft. The cord crosses over and under itself at every join, which is the whole point of the pattern: one line, no beginning and no end.

The field behind it is deep green, cracked into a fine mosaic. Around the rim runs a braided rope of green vine, and small clover clusters push in from the lower left and right. The carved and painted stone effect - the chips, the shadow, the rounded edge of every strand - is printed onto a flat panel, so nothing on the surface actually stands proud.

Green on cream is easy to live with year-round rather than only around Imbolc. It suits an entryway, a stair wall, or the space above a hearth. In Celtic tradition the endless knot is read as continuity and protection, which makes it a considered gift for a housewarming or a handfasting. Pre-drilled holes are already in place.
