Three words, no pictures, and all the work handed to the type. BEWARE arcs across the top in ornate capitals, WITCH'S takes the middle at full width, and LAIR sits below, every letter drawn with barbed serifs and long tails that hook back on themselves. The letters are the color of polished bone shading to copper, with a hard shadow thrown to one side.
The plate behind is flat black. Curled flourishes fill the space at both sides of BEWARE and again under LAIR. Rust runs thick along every edge and pools around the bolt heads at the four corners, heaviest across the top rail. The sign is a single flat sheet, so the depth in the letters and the corrosion around them are printed.
It hangs the wide way and works as a door plate: a bedroom door, a craft room, the top of the basement stairs. The joke lands for anyone who has ever been told to keep out. A good gift for a teenager, or for the friend whose kitchen genuinely qualifies.
