Apothecary Quilted Witch Hat – Samhain Pumpkin Potion Wide Brim Hat

A working apothecary shelf printed on quilted polyester, jack-o-lantern and all

The cone runs from a gold crescent moon and scattered stars at the point, past two purple bats and a curl of gold smoke, down to the main scene: a grinning orange jack-o-lantern flanked by two dripping ivory candles, a black altar bowl marked with a gold crescent, holding a bundle of cinnamon sticks, and three corked glass bottles of green seed, orange seed and amber liquid, framed by oak leaves, fern, lavender and orange berries.

The brim is built from pie-cut wedges in orange, purple, olive and black, each holding one thing: an orange pumpkin, a bound straw bundle with lavender, a cream pumpkin beside a lit candle, a purple night panel with a gold crescent, amethyst points, amber bottles, red fly agaric mushrooms and small purple bats. A line of gold dots runs the whole outer edge.

For the person who keeps dried herbs and corked bottles out all October and reads tarot at the kitchen table. The wide brim of this samhain hat sits level and shades the eyes, at a pumpkin patch or by candlelight.

• Material: quilted polyester with a padded, stitched texture that holds the cone upright instead of flopping
• Size: one size — brim about 17.5 in (44.5 cm) across, cone about 13 in (33 cm) tall
• All over print: printed on the outside of the cone and both sides of the brim, so the pattern shows whether the brim sits flat or turns up
• Care: spot clean with a damp cloth and let it air dry; do not machine wash or the quilting loses its shape
• Note: made to order. Print placement can shift slightly, seams can move by 2–3 cm, and colours read a little deeper on fabric than on screen
