🌲 The winter tree predates the modern holiday by a long way, so hanging older symbols on one is less of a contradiction than it sounds. Pagan Yule ornaments come in two builds: ceramic, which is the larger group, and glass.

Designs cover Celtic pentacles and triquetras, moon goddesses on violet and gold-star grounds, moon owls, black cats, ravens and skull-and-bat spell books. The palette runs cream, gold, violet and deep green rather than the usual red and white.

The two materials behave differently on a tree. Ceramic holds weight and needs a branch that can take it, and the printing sits flat and matte. Glass catches whatever lights you have strung and belongs near them, where it does the most work.
