A five-pointed star of pale stone sits inside a dark circle, and flame appears to run along every edge of it, orange at the base and yellow at the tips. Around that runs a blackened iron frame: scrollwork, small skull finials, a pair of torch brackets, with red and rust roses growing up through the metal. Two large skulls sit low, one each side, half in shadow. Ornate panelling repeats all the way to the border. Gold capitals along the bottom read Welcome to my Lair, a small knotwork motif closing each end. All that heavy relief is printed onto a flat surface.
The darkest and most theatrical mat in this batch, and the obvious pick for a door already dressed for Samhain with lanterns, black gourds and bare branches. It carries a games room or a basement door the rest of the year. A gift for someone who calls their house exactly that.
