A tawny owl fills the disc, cream and brown barring across the breast, amber eyes half-lidded under a black wide-brim hat. The crown of the hat is piled with purple and magenta blooms, small white daisies, and orange and rose autumn leaves. Blue and violet beads hang from short threads at the brim, and one thin branch of dark berries curls over the crown. The wood behind is misty grey-green, with more flowers picked out faintly among the branches.
It is a soft palette for a witchy sign - mauve, moss and dust rather than black and orange. The depth in the feathers and the shine on the beads are printed onto a flat panel. At the smaller size it sits beside a wreath without fighting it.
A good Mabon hang for a covered porch or an entry wall, and it stays welcome through the grey months after. Sensible gift for the friend whose familiar is an owl and whose house is full of dried flowers.
