An owl with enormous orange eyes stares out from under a starry wide-brim hat, navy and violet, printed with mandala discs and jewelled at the band. Its breast is a patchwork: turquoise, hot pink, tangerine and yellow feathers, each one filled with dots, zigzags and tiny painted borders. Strings of gems in blue, green and garnet hang across the chest. Behind, a gold-lit forest and a thin crescent. Painted moons and pinprick stars run right around the brim.
The whole disc runs hot and busy rather than gothic, with barely a patch left plain. Every jewel and stitched edge is printed flat - up close the surface is smooth, with a pre-drilled hole at the top.
Better suited to a craft room, a reading corner or a shelf of plants than a dim altar wall. Good gift for someone whose taste runs boho and bright, and who already owns more owls than they will admit to. It carries a long way across a room for something this small.
