A sun with closed eyes and a freckled cheek leans against a crescent moon in profile, the two of them sharing the middle of the disc. Gold flame-points ring the sun's face; the moon's horn curls with scrollwork and a small ball of light rests at its tip. Behind them the sky splits into blue and black rays, and grey-white clouds bank along the bottom edge. The outer border carries a ring of small gold stars with four larger star medallions at the quarters.
The depth is printed onto a flat panel - the shadow under the moon's chin, the gilding on each ray. From the doorway it reads as a heavy cast plaque, and it weighs almost nothing on the hook.
Hangs well above an altar or over a bed, where sun and moon sit at the head of the room. A steady choice for either solstice, and an easy gift for someone who works with balance and duality rather than with one season alone.
