An owl stares straight out from beneath a dark blue witch hat with a buckled band, the point kinked over to one side. Its eyes are enormous and orange-gold, ringed in dark feathers, and its chest is barred cream and rust. It stands on a carved pumpkin whose cut face glows orange from inside. Maple leaves in red, orange and gold scatter across the whole circle, and behind everything sits a pale full moon on panels of blue and purple, drawn in the fractured style of a church window.
Those panels are printed to imitate stained glass. The dark lines between them are ink on a flat aluminium disc, not real came, and no light passes through the sign.
Hang it on a front door, a covered porch, or a kitchen wall for the stretch from Mabon to Samhain. Owls are the one Halloween animal still welcome in November, so this is a safe gift for a birder who also happens to own a great many candles.
