Two bats hold the top line.

The panel hangs the wide way and reads as a slab of oxidised metal: charcoal, mottled green-black, rust bleeding in from the edges, a bolt head at each corner. The wording runs in three weights, with a small line of caps above, the word Witches large in silver blackletter script, and the closing line set beneath it. A bat sits above each end of the top line and a third flies in from the right. Under the last word lies a broom, bristles fanned out in pale gold.

The lettering, the bolts and the corrosion are printed onto a flat panel, so what looks like cast silver on old iron has no depth to it at all.

It works as a doorway sign more than a wall piece: an entry hall, a covered porch, the door of a craft room. The joke lands with guests on the way in, and it is a reliable gift for a friend who has said that sentence out loud more than once.
