The face is printed to look like a hole broken through rough grey stone, opening onto a forest at night. Two dark trunks lean in from either side, undergrowth banks up along the bottom, and a small black cat sits in it with its head tipped back towards a low full moon. Fireflies hang through the whole scene in warm amber points, some caught in the leaves, some drifting near the branches. The numerals sit out on the stone rim in the same amber, one to twelve, and the hands are brushed gold with a thin red second hand sweeping over them.
Ten inches across, so it fits a hallway, a reading corner or the wall above an altar without dominating it. Arrives assembled with the movement and hands already fitted and a keyhole slot cut into the back board, so it goes straight onto a nail with nothing to build. The movement runs quietly, which matters if the wall backs onto a bedroom.
