A white wolf and a black wolf face each other, muzzles nearly touching. The white one is painted in soft fur strokes; the black one carries gold Celtic tracery over the brow and cheek and a heavy gold ruff down the neck.

Behind them a burnt-orange disc glows, carved over with a woven knot pattern, orange cloud spilling out beneath it. The bottom third of the circle is a silhouetted pine forest and mountain line, and the sky above holds fine stars. Black, orange and gold, and nothing else in the palette. The knot on the orange disc is drawn as one continuous line, and the fur is cut off flat where it meets the rim, which keeps the circle sharp.

Strong enough for a cabin wall, a hallway, or the space above a fireplace. Pines and mountains push it toward winter, so it carries the run from Samhain through Yule. A good gift for someone who walks in the woods and would rather have knotwork than a photograph of a wolf.
