At the centre a gold sun face ringed with small stars sits inside a broad white crescent, the crescent scrolled over with vines and blossom. Around it runs a dark walnut border set with silver-white moon discs at intervals, each marked differently, separated by gilded acanthus leaves and eight-pointed stars. A single pale flower sits at the bottom centre. Nothing in the design is lettered, so it works as pattern rather than statement.
It is printed to look like carved and gilded wood - grain in the dark ring, tool marks along the leaves, a chalky shine on the silver. In hand it is a flat aluminium disc, light enough to hang from one nail.
Sits well above an altar or on the wall where you track the month. Neutral enough for a hallway. A good gift for someone who works the lunar calendar but does not want anything overtly spooky in the front room. The two sizes hang well as a pair on the same wall.
