A great horned owl sits front and centre in rust orange and steel blue, ear tufts up, yellow eyes fixed straight ahead, talons gripping the top of a carved pumpkin. A pale gold moon fills the sky behind him. Monarch butterflies in orange and bright teal cross the quilt at every size, some no bigger than a thumb. Two sugar skulls sit in the bottom corners, painted with pink and purple flowers, with fat candles burning between them, small gourds and a scatter of dry leaves. The pillowcases repeat owl, moon and butterflies.
