Pale hair, paler skin, blue eyes glancing back over one bare shoulder. The hat is the strange part: its brim carries a whole frozen wood, bare branches and frost-white blossom growing straight out of the felt, with a single window glowing orange somewhere in the tangle. Behind her a small moon hangs in deep blue and the branches keep going, silver and thin. Ice flowers trim her collar. The brim curls up on one side and dips low on the other, wide enough to swallow a third of the circle.
Nothing leaves the range of white, grey-blue and black except that one warm light. All of the depth in the trees and the fine strands of hair are printed onto a flat round panel rather than worked into the surface.
