Gothic Style Arch Owl Relief Wall Plaque For Witchy Wall Decor

The owl faces straight forward.

A tall arched tablet with a plain bevelled surround, and set into it an owl standing square to the viewer. Two ear tufts sit up off the head, the eyes are wide and round under a heavy brow, and the breast is worked in row after row of overlapping feathers that get finer towards the belly. The wings stay folded. Below the talons, a curl of acanthus scroll runs across the base of the arch, and a small fan of tracery closes the point at the top.

All matte black. The relief is shallow compared with the skull pieces in this range, which suits the subject: from a couple of steps back the owl reads as a woodcut rather than a sculpture.

Twenty centimetres tall and only ten wide, so it fits a bookcase end, a study wall or the space above a light switch. An obvious gift for anyone who keeps the owl as a familiar or works to Athena.
