Death's-head moth, sun overhead.

A pale moth opens its wings across the centre of the black cloth, four dark eyespots staring out of them and two small bone-coloured skulls sitting where the lower wings end. Above it a gold sun with a sleeping face hangs inside dotted astrological rings. Orange poppies and cosmos crowd in underneath with dark green leaves and a couple of tiny mushrooms. Two crescent moons flank the centre, each cradling a smaller moth, and gold eight-point stars are scattered through the black. A band of the same orange flowers runs around the whole border and down over the hem.

Warm enough for a Mabon table and dark enough to leave down afterwards. It also makes a generous surface for a working altar, since the black ground shows candle drip and salt lines clearly and the flowers stay out at the edges. The moth sits centred, so a bowl or a censer placed in the middle lands right on the body of it. Five sizes are cut, including a round one for a small side table and a long rectangle for a full dining table.
