The centre is a four-armed knot in gold cord, its loops passing over and under each other around a small square where all four arms meet. Green leaves fill the gaps inside the interlace and a red flower sits at either side. Behind it the ground is blue, worked with pale spirals.

Out from there the circle builds in bands: a wide ring of green-and-gold interlace, then a row of blue tiles each carrying a lighter motif, then a red-and-gold braid running the whole outer edge. The colours are painterly rather than flat, with brush marks visible in the leaves. The cord looks thick enough to grip, though the whole thing is printed onto one flat aluminium disc.

It carries from a distance, so it suits a landing, a large kitchen wall, or a covered porch. The knot has no beginning and no end, which is why this pattern turns up so often at handfastings and anniversaries. Good for anyone with Irish or Scottish family and a plain hallway.
