A raven sits square in the centre on a thin branch, body turned to the right, tail sweeping down toward the lower edge. It is drawn almost entirely in black and slate, feathers stacked in long overlapping rows with a hard highlight along the beak and a single dark eye.

The ground behind is a mottled grey-green stone. Around it runs a wide band of pale interlaced knotwork, the strands crossing over and under in bone and tan, with curled scrollwork filling the space behind the bird. Purple anemones and small blue flowers with green leaves grow in from the lower left and the upper right, softening the whole thing. The braided cord and the carved stone are printed on a flat panel, not moulded into it.
