A charcoal cat sits upright and forward-facing, both front paws planted on an open book. His coat is drawn in fine strokes, the ruff heavy, the tail curled around his side. The eyes are wide amber gold. Across his chest sits a single Celtic knot in brass. He is grey rather than true black, closer to slate.
The open book beneath him is worked the same way, its two pages filled edge to edge with interlace instead of writing. Behind his head rises an arch of continuous Celtic knotwork in aged brass, and dark ivy leaves trail down both sides against a near-black ground. Two mounting holes are punched through the top of the rim.
The Celtic styling pushes it away from Halloween and towards the older end of the craft, so it can hang beside a bookshelf or above a grimoire shelf permanently. An easy gift for a cat person who takes the reading seriously, or for anyone whose cat sits on the book they are trying to use.
