A black cat stands on a rocky ledge with its back arched high, tail up and bristling, ears flattened, yellow eyes fixed straight ahead. Behind it an enormous amber moon fills most of the cloth, mottled and lit like a lantern, with violet storm cloud banked around the rim. Bare thorn branches lean in from both sides and a spired roof sits small in the cloud to the right. Across the bottom, in orange gothic script with a curled flourish beneath it, runs It's the Witching Hour.

This one is built for October. It holds a porch display together with carved pumpkins and lanterns without tipping into cartoon, and the lettering still reads from the sidewalk at dusk. An easy gift for the neighbour who starts decorating on the first of the month.
