A luna moth opens across the centre in pale green, its upper wings marked with cream moon spots and its lower wings drawn down into two long tails that curve past the bottom of the dial. Small dark eyespots ring the lower edges of the wings, and the feathered antennae reach up toward the top.

The ground is black with faint gold stars, and two lavender leaf sprigs rise on either side. A thin gold wreath of stems circles the rim. The numbers one to twelve are printed in the same warm gold, and the hands are plain black. The raised, sculpted effect of the wings is flat print on a wooden face.
