🖼️ Framing is the difference between a print and a piece. Gothic wall frames here split between wooden oval frames and framed canvas, with a run of resin altar plaques alongside them.

The oval is the shape to understand. A dark stained wooden surround makes an image read as inherited rather than bought, which is why it suits witches flying across the moon, floral crows, ghosts with black cats and skull-and-apple still lifes far better than a square would. Several of the metal signs are cut with a frame built into the design — gold leaf around a brass moon, silver around fog pines, red plaster over timber.

Ovals hang best in uneven clusters at staggered heights, three or five rather than four in a row, where square frames start to read as a grid.
