Bone stacked into a crescent.
A moon built out of vertebrae. Each segment has the flat body and the two side wings of a real spinal bone, and they run nose to tail in a long curve, roughly two dozen of them, until both ends draw out into a smooth tapered horn. The relief is deepest along the outer edge, where those side wings stand clear of the wall.
The colour is bone: warm cream under lamplight, chalk white against dark paint. Matte throughout, with a little shadow settling into the joints between segments. The inner curve is left completely open, so whatever the wall is painted becomes the dark half of the moon. One photo shows it hung from a short chain.
It reads best on a plain wall with nothing crowding it, above an altar table, over a headboard, or up a stairwell. Suited to anyone who collects bones, casts and specimen art, and it stays up long past Samhain.
- Material: moulded wall piece, matte bone white throughout
- Sizes: one size; the product data lists no measurements for this piece
- Care: dust with a soft dry brush, which gets between the segments better than a cloth
- Note: no hanging hardware is listed, and the candle sconce, lace and books in the photos are not included
