The apprentice is a cat.

A long-haired black cat sits upright behind the cauldron in a broad hat pinned with a pentacle and purple flowers. The eyes are green-gold and level. Two front paws rest just out of frame while pink smoke climbs from the pot in front of him.

Coloured bottles stand either side, tall and stoppered, and the ledge below is crowded with burning candles, faceted stones in blue and violet, and scattered gold petals. A crescent hangs top left, a full moon top right, over a night sky flecked with stars. The line across the bottom is Macbeth: "By the pricking of my thumbs, something Witchy this way comes."

Keep it on the sofa for October films, or fold it over a chair in the corner where the cat already sleeps. It suits a housewarming for someone whose familiar runs the household, and the Shakespeare line gives it a reason to stay out after Samhain.

Returns & guarantee

If it is not what we showed you. Damaged, the wrong item, or materially different from the photographs — tell us within 30 days of delivery. One email and one clear photo is enough to start. You choose a refund or a replacement, and in many cases we settle it from the photo and you keep the item.

If it never arrives. If your parcel has not reached you 60 days after it shipped, we refund your order in full.
