A witch kneels on the ground in a heavy black gown, wide brimmed hat pulled low, her pale green face in profile. Facing her, almost close enough to touch her nose, a raven stands on her outstretched skirt with its head tilted up, beak almost level with her chin. Neither of them moves.
Everything is worked in ink black and midnight blue with a wet, glossy sheen, and the only other colour is a scatter of small green leaves along the hem where she meets the ground. There is no frame and no sky — the panel is cut to the outline of the two figures.
Because it has no background, it works best hung against clear glass or a plain pale wall where the silhouette stays readable — against a busy curtain it disappears. Sombre rather than jolly, so it suits an altar corner, a study or a bedroom window more than a party door. One size, on a black cord.
