A snowy owl sits on a low branch at the centre, breast speckled black on white, orange eyes forward. Around it, bare pale branches arch over in layers to make a rough frame, and the background steps back in cut sheets of teal and blue, like paper laid one over another. White roses and snow-covered berries bank along the bottom, and a pale moon shows through the branches on the left. Snow sits along the tops of the branches.
The layered papercut effect is exactly that, an effect. Every step and every shadow is printed onto a flat aluminium disc, so nothing actually lifts off the surface.
