This one is text first. SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES is set across the middle in a heavy cream serif, WICKED blown up largest, the whole thing speckled and worn as though the paint has been sitting outdoors for years.
Above the words a pointed witch hat with a buckled band tips against a white full moon, two bats crossing in front of it. Purple ink clouds roll out to either side, and the field behind the moon is cut with fine radiating lines. Spider webs, curls and pale orbs fill the corners, all inside a cream border ring. The palette holds to violet, black and bone.
It is a doorway sign, and it earns its place at the front of the house through October. The heavy lettering stays readable from the pavement, which most decorative discs cannot manage. Give it to someone who quotes the play, or hang it at the top of the stairs where the words land as a warning.
